Ants like warm weather and are more commonly found in the south.

Although they belong to the wasp and bee family, their sting is different. They will give you a nip and squirt their poison, formic acid, onto the wound.

Plenty of effective off-the-shelf insecticides.

Unless you are allergic to their poison and have an anaphylactic reaction, you should be safe.
