Gram positive bacteria, which cause tooth decay, can be killed by the anacardiac acids in cashew shell oil, cashew apples and probably cashew nuts.
These acids fight against Streptococcus mutans, the main bug that leads to decay. A study carried out by Charles Webber from North Carolina has shown that eating as little as a few ounces per day can be effective against abscesses.
