'Coronation Street' tearaway David Platt is to be put back on the straight and narrow by Ken Barlow.
The wayward teen - who was recently unveiled as being responsible for the hatemail campaign being waged against his mother, Gail - is set to start drinking on the streets and skipping school as his behaviour spirals out of control.
In an act of desperation, long-suffering Gail takes her son - played by 18-year-old actor Jack Shepherd - for a meeting with his headmaster.
However, her ploy backfires when David claims the reason he has been behaving so badly is because he is being bullied and is given the rest of the school year off.
Gail then hires Ken to tutor her son, and at first David thinks he is in for an easy ride.
But the retired teacher, actor Bill Roache, soon works out his new pupil's scams to try and skive off and begins to instil some much needed discipline and order into his life.
A show insider told Britain's Daily Star newspaper: "Ken is really up for the challenge of teaching young David - and the lad soon realises Ken isn't the pushover he thought. David starts to develop a secret respect for the discipline and principles Ken introduces and a rapport develops between them."
Viewers will see the intriguing storyline develop over the next few weeks.
