Maradona joins 'Soccer Aid'

Football legend Diego Maradona is to take part in 'Soccer Aid'.

The Argentinean star - who is best-known for his infamous 'Hand of God' goal against England in the World Cup in 1968 - is reportedly being paid a staggering £100,000 to appear in the ITV show.

Other celebrities in the programme - which also stars pop heartthrob Robbie Williams - are getting just £10,000.

A source told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "Robbie Williams and the rest of the team are stunned by Maradona's huge demands.

"The game is for Unicef - yet he started off asking for as much as £250,000."

The insider added: "But ITV bosses were determined to get Maradona.

"They believe he will be the big audience puller - and many of the celebs are excited to play with him. Producers sealed a deal and he will be playing by Friday."

'Soccer Aid' will culminate in a charity football match on Saturday (27.05.06).
