But there are ways on how you can avoid them more effectively.
Check out our top 10 tips on how to avoid allergies in the home:
- Trade carpet with hard vinyl or wood floor coverings
- Use roller blinds that are easy to clean
- Regularly vacuum or wash your soft toys, cushions, curtains, etc. at high temperature
- Choose HEPA vacuum cleaners as they are more effective in removing dust when compared to ordinary ones
- Always use damp cloth when wiping surfaces as dry dusting can spread the allergens further.
- Keep your pets outside of the house and groom dogs on a regular basis.
- Wash all soft furnishings (especially bed linen) on which a pet has been on at least 60C
- To avoid mould spores, make sure that your home is well ventilated and dry at all times
